Introduction

I have decided to rebuild and update the DTC2 executable version into a browser-based application. DTC2 is now fully web-based and can be accessed directly through the browser, offering greater flexibility and easier access from various devices. The main functions remain the same as in the DTC.exe version. The new version is called DTC2 Online.

What is DTC2 online

DTC2 online is an application for deactivating or deleting DTCs from an ECU Flash Dump. It allows you to remove individual error codes from the ECU. Additionally, the software includes a function to export DTCs from MEDC17, EDC16, MED9, ME7, and MDG1 to an A2L file, which can be used in other software like WinOLS, etc. Furthermore, it has a comparison function that enables you to compare two files. There are also updates and new solutions.

Why DTC2 is now Web-based

The problem with DTC2.exe is that it has grown larger than expected, making it difficult to maintain the software for all users. Additionally, users can sometimes be very challenging. I strive to answer all support questions, but it can sometimes take a few days. During this time, some users send multiple emails, which can be overwhelming. DTC2 online has a very good file identification system, which should eliminate the first user errors. If a file does not work, it is not possible to open a ticket manually. In the past, multiple tickets were opened for the same file. Now, the software automatically creates a ticket, allowing me to see and fix any issues more efficiently.

There are also Updates and new Solutions you can find Infos about it in the News section.

Also such problems like:

  • HW-ID changes when an external HDD is connected.
  • DTC2 is incompatible with virtual machines.
  • DTC2 does not function on Windows ARM systems.
  • DTC2 is not supported on Windows XP (seriously!).
  • Is detected as Virus!?
are now solved.

I am aware that the new version has some drawbacks. For example, the biggest issue for me personally is that DTC OFF files are always saved in the browser's default download folder. Unfortunately, I cannot change the destination where the files are stored. Strangely, several users have pointed out to me that they now always need an internet connection, but that was already the case with the DTC2 executable.

But now, let's move on to the advantages:

  • You can now use DTC2 on any device that has a modern web browser.
  • The speed! Anyone who has worked with a VAG MED17.x on DTC2 knows it could take about 5 minutes to find DTCs. Now, it takes just 10 seconds.
  • Updates are much easier to implement.

What browser do I need? I testted DTC2 online with the following browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
I dont have an Apple device, so I can't test it with Safari. But I think it should work with Safari too. Maybe someone can share his experience with me.

How it works

You can use the same login data as in DTC2.exe. If you don't have an account, you can create one here. After that, you need a valid license to use the software. Then you can start uploading your file and begin working with it.

How do I get a license? Users with a DTC2.exe license can now import their license into DTC2 online. New licenses and renewals are available in the webshop.

Is there no HW-ID anymore? Yes, the HW-ID is no longer needed. Can I share my account with all my friends? No, the account is still personal and can only be used simultaneously for the number of HW-IDs you have. For example, if you had 2 HW-IDs, you can be logged in with 2 sessions. If a third login occurs with this account, the oldest session will be canceled. Additionally, if you share your account, it will be blocked ;).

What does "2 sessions" mean exactly? You can use DTC2 online on two devices at the same time. If you log in on a third device, the oldest session will be automatically terminated.

FAQ

DTC2 online is an application for deactivating or deleting DTCs from an ECU Flash Dump. It allows you to remove individual error codes from the ECU.

Old DTC2.exe users can import their license from the old DTC2.exe (Look at the Main Page). All users, new and old can buy a license in the Webshop soon (End January 2025).

Simple: NO! The old DTC2.exe is no longer supported. The new version is DTC2 online it will fully replace DTC2.exe.

If the ECU is on the supported ECU's List, you can open a ticket. If not, you can't use the software. Non-working files are also sent automatically to me, and I will look at them when I have time.

Indeed, it's a good question. But no worries, this is not a file collecting software. You can see your uploaded files in the DTC2 online file history. I have many users with many files, so I don't have much space to store files permanently. Therefore, after a minimum of 6 hours, the files are deleted.

My TIP: If you have such a unique tune/solution that nobody should see, I am sure you are able to do the DTC OFF by yourself!

In ECU you can only deactivate ECU Errors!!! No ABS, BCM, Light etc. Errors (Yes from time to time I get such questions)

Some ECUs have a "slave" module most time Adblue ECU like DCU17CPXX what have a own DTC table! So you read AdBlue DTCs from the ECU but cant find them in DTC2 Software. So if you make AdBlue off pay attention to the correct application of the solution if there is somthing like "diconect Adblue Modul".

On VAG and VCDS don't always believe the DTC description. Also deactivate the MAN Code.
Example:
16619 - Ladedruckregelung
P0235 - 000 - Regelgrenze unterschritten

If you don't found P0235 search for 16619.

On BMW DTC Codes often displayed with 3 Bytes, search only first 2 Bytes:
Example:
12BB01 - Oxygen Sensor After Catalytic Convertor

12BB01 dont't found search for 12BB.

There can be many reasons for this, but in most cases, this is how it behaves.

Sometimes it is not entirely clear whether DTC is ON or OFF. For example, DTC2 Online only checks the path, not the disable mask. Also, do not always rely solely on whether it is marked as ON or OFF. Turn off the DTC anyway and test the file.

WinOLS Solutions F7 Integration

This feature is available only if you buyed one of the two highest licenses: 3 sessions / 50 files per day and 4 sessions / 100 files per day. It is made for professional users. It helps make editing faster and easier, giving professionals a smooth experience. For more details, visit the EVC website: EVC Solutions DTC2 online WinOLS Solutions F7 Integration works from WinOLS version 5.74.24 and newer.

🔗 Add your EVC Customer Number

First, you need to add your EVC Customer Number to DTC2 Online. If your license is eligible for WinOLS Solutions Integration, you can do this in Licenses -> EVC Customer Number.
After that, you will receive an email from EVC saying, "The reseller dunt wants to add you as a customer of his. Is that correct?" ✅ You need to confirm this.

add EVC Costumer Number
add WinOLS update

Update and restart WinOLS

After you have successfully bound your EVC Customer Number to DTC2 online, the next step is to update the registry in WinOLS. To do this, go to the "Miscellaneous" tab in the top menu and then select "Updates + Registration". If no updates are available, restart WinOLS.

use online Solutions

Now you can use the online solutions in WinOLS. To do this, open the Projekt and go to the "Solutions". There you will find the dunt where you can upload the original FIle. Select the desired solution and click on "Apply". The solution will be applied to the ECU file.

Solution Manager
add WinOLS update

Solutions Manager

After upload your file over the Solutions Manager you can have at this time up to 3 solutions.

  • DTC OFF for: XXXXXXX
  • DTC OFF with Preset for: XXXXXXX
  • DTC Mappack for: XXXXXXX *
Everything depends on proper ECU detection. My ECU detection isn't perfect — some ECUs are not correctly identified. If an ECU can't be detected, it's not possible to use the WinOLS feature.
However, you can go to DTC2 Online, upload the original file, select the correct ECU, and retrieve the DTCs. Once the file is successfully processed in DTC2 Online, WinOLS solutions will also be able to identify the file correctly.

*) Please note that Mappacks are currently available for a limited number of ECUs. Support will be expanded in future updates to include more ECUs.

DTC OFF

In the Solutions Manager, you can view a comprehensive list of all available DTCs. To deactivate specific DTCs, navigate to "DTC OFF for: YOUR-ECU," enter the desired DTCs in the text field (e.g., P0403,18254,0x5874), and the DTCs will be disabled in your current project.

Solution Manager
DTC OFF with Preset

DTC OFF with Preset

This is one of the most powerful features: If you've created a custom solution in WinOLS (e.g., DPF removal for a race car), you can now define your own DTC Preset in DTC2 online and deactivate DTCs directly within WinOLS. Manually disabling multiple DTCs can be time-consuming and error-prone. With this feature, you can handle the entire DTC OFF process inside WinOLS – without ever exporting the file. This streamlines your workflow and keeps everything in one place.

DTC Mappack

This feature creates a Mappack for your ECU. The Mappack includes all maps to manually switch off DTCs.

Please note that Mappacks are currently available for a limited number of ECUs. Support will be expanded in future updates to include more ECUs.
